Second Mile Giving
from Pastor Luana
Difficult times call forth the People of God — because we were made for such a time as this.
Each week, I will clearly share the ways you can do good — both within MUMC and beyond — and I simply invite you to listen to your heart and follow where God leads you.
Upcoming opportunities to respond with a second-mile offering of love and generosity:
November 2 — Native American Ministries Awareness Sunday
November 9 — UMCOR Disaster Relief Offering for Jamaica
November 16 — Interfaith Food Pantry collection
November 23 — 2026 Pledge Card Blessing & special Thanks-Giving Offering to help close our year-end budget gap
Where there is need, there is always opportunity for grace.
Thank you for being the kind of church that shows up.

EarthAware Documentary
November 2 @ 11:45am
EarthAware will screen “AMERICAN RIVER’ a documentary film that follows Mary Bruno and guide Carl Alderson on a 4-day, 80-mile adventure down the Passaic, from its pristine source in a wildlife refuge to its toxic mouth in Newark Bay. The river’s extraordinary history, geology and ecology are revealed as the kayakers navigate challenges, travel through urban landscapes and head towards the industrial disaster that poisoned the Passaic for the past 60 years. Along the way, the filmmakers engage residents, historians and advocates in candid conversations that bring insight, urgency and a sense of wonder to the story. The Passaic is an archetype for thousands of rivers across America facing similar reckonings. From Paradise to Superfund, the film is a unique blend of personal memoir, adventure, history and science. It runs about 90 minutes. Please bring a plant-based meal to share as we watch the movie.
United Women Greens Sale
Only a few days left to get your Greens order in! Orders are accepted through Sunday, November 2. The sales flyer is available on our website.
Proceeds benefit scholarships for students and the outreach work of United Women in Faith.
Place orders by emailing Jean Stubaus directly; send payment (checks only, made out to Morristown UMW, with Greens Sale in the memo line) to the church.
New Adult Sunday School Topic
For most Christians, Mark’s Gospel is overshadowed by those of Matthew, Luke, and John. New Testament scholars, however, are endlessly fascinated by Mark, both because it was the earliest Gospel and the primary source for Matthew and Luke, and because it rivals John’s Gospel in theological profundity.
Dr. Stephen Moore, Professor of New Testament at Drew Theological School, will argue, indeed, that Mark’s is the Gospel most adequate for a fully adult Christian faith. All are welcome – no preparation to participate.
Meets in the Wesley Room at 9:15am Sunday morning
Steel Magnolias from Pioneer Productions is coming in November!
