UMCOR has asked congregations to help replenish their reserve of Cleaning Buckets in the wake of the response to recent hurricane disasters. We are collecting monetary donations to go toward purchase of supplies that we will use to pack another set of buckets. The average cost of one bucket is $80; by bulk purchasing supplies, we can bring that cost to about $70. We’ll pack them together as a community before transporting them to the local collection center. Write “UMCOR Buckets” on your check and place your donation in the offering plate or donate online. – choose UMCOR Buckets in the dropdown box.

Halloween Organ Concert

Join us for a Halloween treat as organist Jennifer Yang presents a 10 minute, pop-up concert featuring Johann Sebastian Bach’s stunning Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (BWV 565), the perfect accompaniment to your Halloween! The concert begins at 6:30pm on Halloween night.

United Women in Faith Business Meeting

Calling women of all ages – you are invited to attend a planning meeting right after church on Sunday, October 27th in the Wesley Room.  United Women in Faith (formerly known as United Methodist Women) has been an integral part our Morristown UMC for generations.  It is now time to explore and decide on the programs and mission opportunities that you would like to see implemented in the coming year.  We also need to complete a slate of officers.  Please mark your calendars and come help forge a new beginning for United Women in Faith.

Sunday Morning Adult Sunday School

The Sunday Morning Adult Class will welcome Dr. Stephen Moore from Drew Theological School for a 3-week presentation created especially for us, which he entitled, The Jewish Gospel: Matthew, Judaism, and Anti-Semitism. Understanding Jesus’ mindset helps us to understand the motivation which drove Jesus and the early church leaders. Come learn what Jesus thought about Judaism, and how it differs from what most contemporary Christians think.

Stephen Moore is the Edmund S. Janes Professor of New Testament Studies at Drew Theological School. A native of Ireland, he found his Drew home in 1999, having previously taught in Ireland, England, and elsewhere in the U.S.
