Bring a Turkey to Church Sunday is October 26.Bring a Turkey to Church October 26

For the fifth consecutive year, we will be having our Bring a Turkey to Church Food Drive culminating on October 26th.  Once again, we will be collecting turkeys, large chickens, turkey breasts and hams as well as side dishes.  Download the flyer with the shopping list!

Last year, the Pantry distributed 2,547 turkeys, sides and fresh produce to those who requested them, including 918 households served by Pantry Partners and other agencies. Needless to say, the need has only grown.

As always you are welcome to attend whether or not you have completed your reading of the book.

EarthAware Documentary

November 2 @ 11:45am

EarthAware will screen “AMERICAN RIVER’ a documentary film that follows Mary Bruno and guide Carl Alderson on a 4-day, 80-mile adventure down the Passaic, from its pristine source in a wildlife refuge to its toxic mouth in Newark Bay. The river’s extraordinary history, geology and ecology are revealed as the kayakers navigate challenges, travel through urban landscapes and head towards the industrial disaster that poisoned the Passaic for the past 60 years. Along the way, the filmmakers engage residents, historians and advocates in candid conversations that bring insight, urgency and a sense of wonder to the story. The Passaic is an archetype for thousands of rivers across America facing similar reckonings. From Paradise to Superfund, the film is a unique blend of personal memoir, adventure, history and science. It runs about 90 minutes. Please bring a plant-based meal to share as we watch the movie.

New Adult Sunday School Topic

For most Christians, Mark’s Gospel is overshadowed by those of Matthew, Luke, and John.  New Testament scholars, however, are endlessly fascinated by Mark, both because it was the earliest Gospel and the primary source for Matthew and Luke, and because it rivals John’s Gospel in theological profundity.

Dr. Stephen Moore, Professor of New Testament at Drew Theological School, will argue, indeed, that Mark’s is the Gospel most adequate for a fully adult Christian faith.  All are welcome – no preparation to participate.

Meets in the Wesley Room at 9:15am Sunday morning
