Adult Sunday School Lenten Study – starts February 22
led by Cherry Tom

A meaningful encounter with Jesus and the Psalms through the season of Lent with Barb Roose.
Barb Roose guides us through a meaningful encounter with the Psalms through the season of Lent. Combining an interpretation of the psalms with real life stories, the study moves through the familiar words of Psalm 23 toward the painful cries of Psalm 22 uttered by Jesus on the cross. The study includes reflections on the life of King David and the original context of the writings, along with connections between the psalms and the life and death of Jesus the Messiah.

“The Psalms provide a perfect framework for experiencing Lent through the verses that were Jesus’s own scriptures, offering both him and us strength and wisdom in a painful and redemptive season. The Book of Psalms hums with the heartbeat of our humanity with divinely inspired words that find purchase in the tenderest places in our hearts when our human words or wisdom fails us.” — Barb Roose

You are invited to join us each Sunday at 9:15 in the Wesley room. No advanced prep is necessary. Each presentation is designed to be stand-alone, so if you have to miss a class, you will still get a lot out of each session.

Compassion Camp 2026

Spring Break is right around the corner, and Compassion Camp is coming to MUMC! From March 30–April 3, children in K–5th grade are invited to a week of faith, friendship, and fun at Morristown United Methodist Church. Each day (9am–2pm; drop-off 8:30–9am) will include Bible stories, music, crafts, games, yoga, and hands-on activities that help kids practice empathy, generosity, inclusion, and justice in everyday life.

On Tuesday, we will be hosting a special guest from Lokai Rose, a 501(c)3 exotic animal rescue, to provide us with an exciting education about kindness and compassion toward all living things.

Cost is $45 for the first child and $30 for additional children, with partial and full scholarships available. This fee will include a light breakfast and lunch along with covering the costs of supplies and curriculum for the week.

Join us as we grow in love for neighbor and learn how to make a difference at home, school, and in our community!

Register through our online form.

Mission Madness & Youth Spring Series

This March, MUMC is launching Mission Madness — five weeks of hands-on service and faith in action! Youth are invited to participate in service opportunities each Sunday following worship (March 1, 8, 15, and 22), collaborate in the Rise Against Hunger as a Skylands District Event on March 7 at Trinity UMC, support our local Family Promise Morris with a “Done-In-A-Day” project on Thursday March 26th from 3:30-5:30pm, and attend Youth Compassion Camp Volunteer Training on March 29. This month of Mission Madness will culminate in the opportunity for youth to support a week of Compassion Camp (March 30-April 3) volunteering as Junior Councilors.

Additionally, beginning March 5, youth will also gather weekly at 6pm in the Youth Lounge for a new series inspired by Holy Troublemakers & Unconventional Saints — exploring stories of bold, justice-seeking faith leaders from diverse backgrounds. Come grow in faith, build friendships, and make a meaningful impact.

Safe Sanctuary Training Sessions

This training class is an annual requirement by our current Safe Sanctuary policy. Safe Sanctuary training & certification is required for anyone (staff and volunteers) that work with children, youth, and vulnerable persons. In addition to this training, there is also an application which includes references, a background check, an interview with either a ULB member or ministry lead, and watching a Ministry Safe video about abuse. Vince Cattano is coordinating these sessions. Sign-up at: bit.ly/safetrain26

Praise and Worship Night – March 13

Our next Praise and Worship Night is Friday, March 13 – but you don’t have to go that long without the music we love and have been singing together! Vince put together a Spotify playlist for us to enjoy!

Whippany River Cleanup – March 21

MUMC’s EarthAware team will be joining with other Morristown organizations to help protect one of Morris County’s most important natural resources during the 2026 Whippany River Clean Up, scheduled for Saturday, March 21.

The annual clean-up effort is organized by the Whippany River Watershed Action Committee and will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon. A rain date has been set for Sunday, March 22.

Volunteers will meet at 59 Spring Street in Morristown, gathering in the parking lot across from Bethel Church of Morristown, before heading out to designated areas along the Whippany River to remove trash and debris. Organizers say the event plays a key role in improving water quality, protecting wildlife habitats, and keeping the river accessible and healthy for the surrounding communities.

While volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves, all necessary clean-up supplies will be provided. No prior experience is required, and individuals, families, student groups, and community organizations are welcome to participate.

The clean-up is supported by a number of local sponsors and partners, including the Town of Morristown, Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority, New Jersey Clean Communities, Trout Unlimited, EarthAware, Morristown Airport, and other community partners.
