Morristown United Methodist Church is delighted to once again welcome Peace Islands Institute for a Ramadan presentation followed by an Iftar dinner, the meal taken at sunset to break the daily fast during Ramadan.

Peace Island Institute’s mission is to promote inter-faith dialogue and friendship to create understanding and peace in our society. In the Muslim tradition, Ramadan is the holiest month, one of spiritual reflection, fasting and prayer.

Join us to enjoy a delicious Iftar dinner and come together with people from the Greater Morristown community for conversations that will deepen our relationships with  one another, fostering understanding and empathy across our diverse community.

We encourage you to fast (if health permits) to be in spiritual unity with all.

Support the Souper Bowl of Caring throughout February!

Be a SOUPer Hero!

It’s estimated that 135 million people watched the Super Bowl Halftime Show!

Now imagine that every one of those people will donate a can of soup or some other food item to their local food pantry.

We are once again participating in the SOUPer Bowl of Caring from now until the end of February.  We will be collecting cans of soup and/or any of the items listed on our new IFP TEN MOST WANTED LIST.

And please take a moment to check out the new plaque on the food cart designed and produced by our own Charlie Schuetz.  We also have a new tray attached to the side for the food lists thanks to Greg Schuetz.

This is a group effort that we can all be part of.  We have been called to Feed the Stranger and you have answered that call.  Let’s keep it going! – Carol Ferraro

Adult Sunday School Lenten Study – starts February 22
led by Cherry Tom

A meaningful encounter with Jesus and the Psalms through the season of Lent with Barb Roose.
Barb Roose guides us through a meaningful encounter with the Psalms through the season of Lent. Combining an interpretation of the psalms with real life stories, the study moves through the familiar words of Psalm 23 toward the painful cries of Psalm 22 uttered by Jesus on the cross. The study includes reflections on the life of King David and the original context of the writings, along with connections between the psalms and the life and death of Jesus the Messiah.

“The Psalms provide a perfect framework for experiencing Lent through the verses that were Jesus’s own scriptures, offering both him and us strength and wisdom in a painful and redemptive season. The Book of Psalms hums with the heartbeat of our humanity with divinely inspired words that find purchase in the tenderest places in our hearts when our human words or wisdom fails us.” — Barb Roose

You are invited to join us each Sunday at 9:15 in the Wesley room. No advanced prep is necessary. Each presentation is designed to be stand-alone, so if you have to miss a class, you will still get a lot out of each session.

Please join us for the next UWF book club meeting on Tuesday, February 24 at 7pm in the Youth Lounge. Cherry Tom will lead the discussion on Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng.

This 2022 dystopian novel describes the search of a 12 year old boy for his Asian American poet mother who disappeared three years ago. The federal government has implemented the PACT (the Preservation of American Culture and Traditions) law which provides for the relocation of children of dissident parents. Library books considered contrary to PACT and unpatriotic have been removed and recycled (turned into toilet paper). Despite this, among the heroes in this book are a network of librarians.

As always you are welcome to attend whether or not you have completed your reading of the book.

Compassion Camp 2026

Spring Break is right around the corner, and Compassion Camp is coming to MUMC! From March 30–April 3, children in K–5th grade are invited to a week of faith, friendship, and fun at Morristown United Methodist Church. Each day (9am–2pm; drop-off 8:30–9am) will include Bible stories, music, crafts, games, yoga, and hands-on activities that help kids practice empathy, generosity, inclusion, and justice in everyday life.

On Tuesday, we will be hosting a special guest from Lokai Rose, a 501(c)3 exotic animal rescue, to provide us with an exciting education about kindness and compassion toward all living things.

Cost is $45 for the first child and $30 for additional children, with partial and full scholarships available. This fee will include a light breakfast and lunch along with covering the costs of supplies and curriculum for the week.

Join us as we grow in love for neighbor and learn how to make a difference at home, school, and in our community!

Register through our online form.

Mission Madness & Youth Spring Series

This March, MUMC is launching Mission Madness — five weeks of hands-on service and faith in action! Youth are invited to participate in service opportunities each Sunday following worship (March 1, 8, 15, and 22), collaborate in the Rise Against Hunger as a Skylands District Event on March 7 at Trinity UMC, support our local Family Promise Morris with a “Done-In-A-Day” project on Thursday March 26th from 3:30-5:30pm, and attend Youth Compassion Camp Volunteer Training on March 29. This month of Mission Madness will culminate in the opportunity for youth to support a week of Compassion Camp (March 30-April 3) volunteering as Junior Councilors.

Additionally, beginning March 5, youth will also gather weekly at 6pm in the Youth Lounge for a new series inspired by Holy Troublemakers & Unconventional Saints — exploring stories of bold, justice-seeking faith leaders from diverse backgrounds. Come grow in faith, build friendships, and make a meaningful impact.
