Blue Christmas Service

As we approach Christmas Day, we acknowledge that sometimes it’s hard to maintain the “joy of the season” when our hearts are heavy.
Gather with us to pray and lament, to mourn the losses and griefs of the year, to let the tears flow for the hurting places in our own lives, as well as for our country and our world.
Our Blue Christmas Service is a safe and sacred space to share anguish, to plead with God to remember us, to pray for justice and restoration, even to hope against hope, through our doubts and tears and fears, that “God will set things right all over the earth.”
Let us offer the grief and anxiety that comes with the changing seasons of our lives to the God who is with us through it all.
ADVENTure in Mission — Alternative Gift Giving for Christmas
December 8, 15, and 22 after service in Fellowship Hall
What is Alternative Gift Giving?
Instead of buying a physical gift for someone, givers make donations to organizations that serve as the hands and feet of Christ in our community and the world. We share a “catalog” of organizations that include some of our Ministry Alliances as well as groups that are important to our congregation. 2024 Adventure in Mission Brochure
We give you a card that you can share with your recipient that indicates the gift that has been made in their honor.
Alternative Gift Giving is a lovely way to share with someone important to you a gift that shows your values and how you are inspired to support the work of Christ in the world. Every gift in our ADVENTure in Mission Guide is the perfect gift.

Members and friends of the congregation may honor a loved one with a poinsettia on Christmas Eve.
The cost is $15 per plant.

On the Way to Bethlehem by Rob Fuquay

On the Way to Bethlehem follows the long journey to Christmas. The story begins in Rome with a decree issued from the seat of worldly power for a census, setting into motion events leading to the birth of the Savior of the world in a town that represents the very opposite of worldly power, Bethlehem.
Author Rob Fuquay provides insight into the geographical and historical significance of Rome, Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Bethlehem, along with the important characters through whom the Christmas drama unfolds. You will be drawn into those places in a way that helps you experience the spiritual truths each location holds. The reflection we give in these places prepares the heart and soul to experience wonder, awe, mystery, and joy.
