Children’s Sunday School Begins September 8
It’s back to school time here at MUMC. We will kick off the year on September 8 with a brand new curriculum called Big Faith.
Children are naturally creative and Big Faith allows them to connect to Bible stories in creative ways. The lessons are designed around four Big Faith Ideas: Faith in God, Faith in Community, Faith in Jesus and Faith in Action.
We encourage all families with young children to give them the opportunity to grow up in our church. Sunday School is held during the Worship Service.

Messy People: Life Lessons from Imperfect Biblical Heroes (A Bible Study by Jennifer Cowart)
Starts September 8 at 9:15am
God can turn your messy life into a masterpiece.
Every life gets messy at times. Sometimes these messes are literal, like a house that would be easier to condemn than to clean. But sometimes they are intangible messes such as illness, conflict, depression, abuse, bankruptcy, divorce, and job loss. And these messes can be painful, hurting our hearts and our homes. But as we see in the Bible, God loves to use messy people!
In this six-week study, we will dig into the lives of biblical heroes who were messy people just like us but who were used by God in powerful ways. Together we will examine the stories of five wonderful but messy people and one messy parable character: Rahab, the Prodigal Son, Josiah, Mary, David, and Daniel. From their stories, we will learn how God can use broken people, restore damaged hearts and relationships, give us power to handle our critics, and help us deal with the hard moments of life. Along the way we’ll discover that we don’t have to just endure messy lives but can actually learn to thrive with God’s guidance and help. In the hands of God, our messes can become His masterpieces!
Fellowship Coffee Hour Returns Sunday
Plan to stay after service to spend some time getting to know your church family a bit better and to catch up with old friends! Next week, we’ll start a few new things during Fellowship Hour, like Table Talk. After you have had a chance to get your coffee and bagels and chat a bit, gather in the Courtyard (the area with the skylight). At the Table Talk we will chat about a specific project or ministry at MUMC and get your input and feedback! Volunteers are needed to help with set up and clean up Fellowship Hour. Interested? See Sue Puma Vance or email us at MUMC@MorristownUMC.org.
UWF Book Club
Please join us for our September book club meeting on September 24 at 7pm.
Please join us for the resumption of the monthly WWF book club meetings on Tuesday, September 24 at 7pm in the Youth Lounge. Brenda Leary will lead the discussion on Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. The novel tells the story of Elizabeth Zott, a chemist who becomes a cooking show host, after various career moves including encounters with men who take advantage of her including taking credit for her ideas. Note – it was also made into a multi-episode TV show on Apple TV+.
Caregivers Group
Are you (or have you recently been) in a caregiving role? Are you supporting a parent, partner, child, or friend through an illness or medical uncertainty and looking for a time to talk with others who share in the challenges of caregiving?
Our Caregivers Support Group, coordinated by Paula Michelsen, provides an opportunity to connect with others experiencing similar things. Join us to share experiences, resources, and challenges in an atmosphere of compassion. The group gathers on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 7pm. In September, that will be September 9 and September 23 .
If you have any questions, please reach out to Paula via mumc@morristownumc.org
